Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use these free fonts for commercial work?
Some of the fonts in this roundup allow commercial use and some do not; the post itself notes that only some can be used commercially. Always check each font's individual license before using it in client work or anything you sell.
How do I install a downloaded font on my computer?
On Windows, right-click the font file and choose Install. On a Mac, double-click the file and click Install Font in Font Book. The font will then appear in Photoshop and your other applications.
What is the difference between free fonts and fonts that are free for commercial use?
A font can be free to download yet restricted to personal projects only. Fonts that are free for commercial use carry a license that explicitly permits paid work, such as the SIL Open Font License used by most Google Fonts.
Are these 2012 fonts still available today?
Several fonts from this list, including Source Sans Pro, Roboto, Exo, and Cabin, later became widely distributed free fonts that are still easy to find and download today. For others, search the font name directly, as older download links may have moved or gone offline.
