Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best wallpaper resolution for the Samsung Galaxy S6?

The Galaxy S6 has a 1440 x 2560 Quad HD display, so any wallpaper at least that size will look sharp. Samsung's own stock wallpapers are square (2240 x 2240 or 2560 x 2560) because square images pan smoothly as you swipe between home screens. For the crispest result, pick a wallpaper that is 1440 pixels wide or larger.

How do I set a downloaded image as my wallpaper on the Galaxy S6?

Save the image to your phone, then open the Gallery app, tap the image, tap the menu button and choose "Set as". You can apply it to the home screen, the lock screen, or both. Alternatively, long-press an empty area of the home screen, tap Wallpapers, then choose the image from your photos.

Why does my wallpaper look cropped or zoomed in on the home screen?

The home screen crops the sides of the image and shifts it slightly as you swipe between panels, which can make a wallpaper look zoomed in compared to the lock screen. Using a larger square image, such as 2240 x 2240, gives the phone extra area to crop without cutting out the important parts of the picture.

Can I use these Galaxy S6 wallpapers on a different phone?

Yes. These are standard image files, so they work on any phone, tablet, or computer. Just download the size closest to your own screen resolution. On phones with a different aspect ratio, a larger image gives you more room to reposition it before setting it.
